ONLINE TRAINING AND TUTORIALS WITH LYNDA.COM
This site has quickly become one of my favorites. Too many resources to detail here, but suffice it to say that if you need to know how to run and operate a common (or specific) software application Lynda.com has a title or two available for you to review. They make a few of there titles free so you can get a feel for how they work, otherwise it's a subscription based service (I think I'm paying $20/mo, but check with them as they'll run various plans based on the duration of time that you buy). The movies run in the browser and are narrated-as-you-go; I don't think I've watched a single movie where the instructor was filling the soundtrack with "ummmm" or "uhhh"; yet they're not robotic sounding script readers either. The instructors are good (some are better than others) and the only difference is some have better radio voices than others. The bottom line: you need to know how to do something or how an app works. If Lynda.com offers a title on it, you're in luck.
It's been my recent luck that they actually have some kind of deal worked out with Adobe so while I was one of the first people to actually take delivery of Adobe CS4 and CS5 Suite, I already had hours of instruction waiting for me. To hit the ground running with those kinds of resources is huge.
